MOSBY DEFENSE TEAM ASKS TO BE WITHDRAWN FROM CASE

The six lawyers representing former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby in her upcoming federal trial are asking to withdraw from the case and be replaced by a public defender.  According to papers filed in federal court and made public yesterday, the attorneys cite a conflict of interest after Judge Lydia Griggsby this week issued an order threatening to hold Mosby’s lead attorney — A. Scott Bolden — in contempt of court.  A court filing asks that they be replaced with a public defender to represent Mosby.  The filing also says Mosby supports her lawyers’ request.  Though she has reportedly agreed to the request, Judge Griggsby has not yet signed off on it.  Mosby is set to go to trial in March on charges of perjury and mortgage fraud.
