Maryland Governor Wes Moore is naming a key member to his cabinet. Moore has nominated Paul Wiedefeld as transportation secretary. Wiedefeld is a former head of the DC Metro system and has served as executive director of BWI-Marshall Airport as well as Maryland transit administrator. As transportation secretary, he would likely play a major role in the planned revival of Baltimore’s Red Line east-west light rail project that was scrapped by former Governor Larry Hogan. Wiedefeld’s nomination must be confirmed by the Maryland Senate.
