Pennsylvania hospitals are facing major staffing shortages. A recent report by the Hospital and Health System Association of Pennsylvania says three out of ten positions remained vacant at the end of 2022. Unfilled positions included registered nurses, medical assistants, respiratory therapists and nurse practitioners. The study says too many workers are leaving the healthcare industry, and not enough are joining it.
