COMPTROLLER URGES MARYLANDERS TO CHECK UNCLAIMED PROPERTY DATABASE

Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman is urging residents to check the state’s Unclaimed Property database to see if they can be reunited with their cash or property. Lierman says the property could include long-forgotten bank accounts, stocks or jewelry left in safety deposit boxes. Maryland has more than one-point-three-million accounts with a value of more than two-billion-dollars in unclaimed property.  In Fiscal Year 2021, the Comptroller’s Office honored nearly 34-thousand claims totaling more than 61-million-dollars.
