The Appellate Court of Maryland is scheduled to consider an appeal by the family of Hae Min Lee regarding the overturning of Adnan Syed’s murder conviction. The three-judge panel is set to hear oral arguments this morning after the family filed a brief in December claiming they did not receive appropriate notice to participate in the process that led to his release. Young Lee is asking the court to order a redo the hearing so he and his lawyer can attend. Syed spent 20-years in prison for the 1999 killing of ex-girlfriend before the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office dropped all charges and released him in September. His case gained national attention after it was featured on the true-crime podcast “Serial.”
