U.S. SENATE NAMES ASIAN JUDGE TO COURT OF APPEALS

The U.S. Senate has voted to confirm the first Asian American judge to sit on a U.S. Court of Appeals.  Judge Cindy K. Chung was approved Monday for the Third Circuit Court, which hears appeals from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the Virgin Islands.  Chung, who is 47, has been serving as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania since 2021.  She was an assistant U.S. Attorney in the same district for seven years before that.  Officials say Chung is also only the seventh Asian American woman to serve on any federal circuit court.
