EL MAYA TO BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOLLOWING FIRE

The newly-opened El Maya restaurant in Frostburg, heavily damaged by fire yesterday morning, will be closed for the foreseeable future. According to social media postings yesterday, it was stated they will be closed “for some time,” and asked for support during the upcoming months while they prepare for reopening. The fire, which was reported around 2 a.m. yesterday, started in a kitchen wall and the cause is under investigation. Estimates are $25,000 in damage to the building and $25,000 to its contents. The building, which formerly housed the Draft Sports Bar and Grille, is owned by Sergio Carrizal and has recently undergone extensive renovations.
