GOVERNOR NAMES STATE POLICE SUPERINTENDENT

A holdover from the Hogan administration is being tapped to lead Maryland State Police.  Governor Wes Moore has appointed Lieutenant Roland Butler, Jr. as State Police superintendent.  Butler was named acting superintendent last year by former Governor Larry Hogan following the retirement of Colonel Woodrow Jones.  If confirmed by the state Senate, Butler would take over an agency that is subject of a federal civil rights probe into alleged discrimination against Black employees during the hiring and promotion process.
