Lawmakers are in the process of trying to rewrite Maryland’s concealed carry law. Part of the old law was overturned in a Supreme Court decision last year after the high court ruled it was unconstitutional to require applicants to provide a substantial reason for requesting a gun permit. A measure being considered by a Maryland House committee would limit permits to people 21 and over and keep folks on probation from getting one. The bill would also double the fee for a permit to 150-dollars.
