Officials this week have approved a 31-million dollar expenditure to upgrade and expand a water treatment facility near Connellsville. The plant can currently treat a maximum of 40-million gallons of water per day but, upon completion of the project, that will increase to 50-million gallons per day. The project was initially approved 27 months ago with a price tag of 18-million dollars. The increased cost is being blamed on inflation and difficulty finding contractors to do the work.
