HOUSE PANEL TO HEAR PROPOSAL TO RAISE MINIMUM WAGE

The Maryland House Matters Committee will hear testimony on Governor Wes Moore’s proposal to raise the minimum wage in the state to 15-dollars an hour, effective this year.  Current law would not raise the minimum wage to 15 dollars until 2025.  Under Governor Moore’s plan, the minimum wage would increase by this October, then, beginning in July, 2025, increases would be tied to the rate of inflation, up to five percent.
