SUSAN JONES WINS TOP NAACP AWARD

Eighty-year-old Susan Jones won the top honor at Saturday’s Allegany County NAACP 7007 Voice of Freedom Award. The event was held in the multi-purpose building at the Allegany County Fairgrounds. Ms. Jones was the first African-American, man or woman, to be elected to Allegany County wide office, according to local historian Al Feldstein. Ms. Jones was elected as an Allegany County Orphan’s Court judge in 1990, and served from 1991 through 1995.
