HUNTER DOUGLAS CLOSING CUMBERLAND PLANT

Hunter Douglas, which at one point had employed more than 800 people, has announced it is “decommissioning,” or closing the Mexico Farms facility. The company recently laid off dozens of workers. Officials are meeting with company representatives this morning to discuss plans for employees and local business assets. In a statement from the county, it has been in contact with the Maryland Department of Labor to arrange a comprehensive job fair for displaced workers, and it anticipates a continued partnership with Western Maryland Works to coordinate workforce training.
