COUNTY INCLUDED IN QUARANTINE ORDER FOR LANTERNFLY

Allegany County is part of an expanded quarantine order due to the spread of the spotted lanternfly, which feeds on over 70 different types of crops and plants. Garrett County has not yet been included in the quarantine. The Maryland Department of Agriculture order includes 18 of the state’s 24 jurisdictions. Originally from Asia, the insect has been detected in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia.
