SENATE COMMITTEE HOLDS DISASTER FUND HEARING

A Maryland Senate committee held a Thursday hearing on legislation to create local disaster relief funds.   Anne Arundel County State Senator Sarah Elfreth introduced the measure last month in an effort to help residents and businesses that don’t qualify for FEMA assistance. The local disaster relief would include funds for repair or replacement and low or no-interest loans when there is no federal disaster declaration. The fund would need mandated appropriation in the annual State Budget Bill.
