CHILD VICTIMS ACT CLEARS MARYLAND HOUSE COMMITTEE

Legislation to eliminate the statute of limitations for child sex abuse cases is another step closer to passage by the full General Assembly. On Wednesday the House Judiciary committee unanimously approved its version of the bill and debate on the floor could begin as early as today. The state Senate has already passed the measure which allows survivors to file civil actions against institutions that were complicit in the crimes. Governor Wes Moore has previously indicated that he supports the Child Victims Act of 2023.
