MALL CONSTRUCTION STARTS TODAY

Work begins today on the $15 million downtown mall renovation, and one of the first steps will be to remove the concrete planters in the center of Baltimore Street. The project, with work being done by Triton Construction of St. Albans, West Virginia, should take between 12 and 18 months. When completed, Baltimore Street will be restored with a one-way traffic flow. Additionally, underground utilities and high-capacity fiber optics will have been installed. Newly constructed parklets with new trees, shrubs and flowers are also part of the project.
