TWO GOVERNORS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP TO PROTECT WORKERS

Pennsylvania’s and New Jersey’s governors are forming a partnership to help their states protect workers and address so-called misclassifications.  Commonwealth’s governor Josh Shapiro tells the Philadelphia Inquirer that misclassification happens when employers list workers as independent contractors rather than employees.  Governor Shapiro and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s new task force will allow their states to share information about contractors misclassifying workers and potentially coordinate joint enforcement actions against them.  The new interstate task force was announced late last week.
