An annual springtime safety program is now underway. PennDot’s Work Zone Safety week encourages drivers to be especially cautious of people who work in construction zones as the road work season begins. Officials say the most important thing for drivers to remember is to slow down and follow posted speed limits where road work is happening. State police will be inside PennDot trucks running radar to catch drivers who are speeding, texting or tailgating – fines will be doubled for these actions. Officials say over the past 50 years, more than 90 workers have been killed in road work zones.
