Court documents show a one-time aide to former Governor Larry Hogan was not planning to return to Maryland to face trial. The Washington Post reports Roy McGrath did not buy plane tickets or book reservations to travel to Baltimore. An affidavit for a search warrant says McGrath told his attorney he would be flying from his home in Florida to Maryland the night before his March trial and that his wife believed he would be going to Baltimore the day of his trial. McGrath died in a confrontation with the FBI following a three-week manhunt that ended earlier this month near Knoxville, Tennessee. He was due to stand trial on federal fraud charges but he failed to appear in court.
