Pennsylvania’s governor is joining his New Jersey counterpart to go after businesses that cheat their workers. Governor Shapiro and New Jersey’s Phil Murphy say their two states are forming a task force to combat wage theft and worker misclassification. The agreement between the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Departments of Labor will share data and case information. Officials say that information would involve data on wages, unemployment compensations and workers’ comp so that labor violations across state lines can be identified. The state leaders also say they hope to crack down on businesses that break the law in one state while holding their money in the other state.
