A 35-year-old inmate at the Western Correctional Institution in Cresaptown was found dead in his cell early Friday morning, and an investigation has begun into the cause and manner of his death. He was found unresponsive in his cell. If the death is ruled a homicide, the Maryland State Police will become the lead investigating agency, with the assistance from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. His identity was not released, pending notification of next of kin.
