FORMER SPEAKER CAS TAYLOR PASSES AT 88

Former Speaker of the House Cas Taylor passed away yesterday at the age of 88. Taylor was first elected to the House of Delegates in 1975 and served as Speaker from 1994 to 2003. He came up with the concept of One Maryland. At a bill signing ceremony yesterday, Governor Wes Moore says the concept which will reverberate for generations to come. Governor Moore expressed gratitude for his years of public service and celebrated “his many accomplishments which Marylanders benefit greatly from every day.” A visitation will take place at the Scarpelli Funeral Home on Virginia Avenue on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Oldtown Road Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
