In a brief sports note, the New York Jets have released former Fort Hill and University of Maryland standout Ty Johnson from its roster with what is being called a “non-football injury” designation. He appeared in all 17 games for the Jets last year, recording 248 yards from scrimmage, and caught 12 passes for 88 yards.
