MARYLAND JOINS CALL FOR GAS STOVE WARNINGS

Eleven attorneys general, including Maryland’s, are calling on federal regulators to address health and safety risks associated with gas stoves.  In a letter to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the AGs say the stoves emit pollutants that have a negative effect on sensitive groups and put people at risk of asthma and other respiratory illnesses.  They want uniform performance and ventilation standards.  They also want the CPSC to increase public awareness about the health risks posed by the appliances.
