MD. HIGHEST COURT REVERSES LOWER COURT DECISION ON DIGITAL AD TAX

The Supreme Court of Maryland has reversed a lower court’s decision that struck down the state’s digital ad tax. The digital ad tax is meant to provide funding for the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future to improve public education. Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown applauds the court for acting quickly because revenues generated by the tax will support the goal of transforming schools across the state. Brown says the funds will help to level the playing field so underserved communities will have access to the quality educational opportunities enjoyed by the highest performing schools.
