COUNTY CONSIDERS WATER/SEWER INCREASE

Allegany County is considering an increase of 10.4 per cent in water and sewer charges for its sanitary services customers. The last increase in sanitary rates was in July of 2021, when bills were raised 9 per cent. While the county’s water account shows a positive balance of $710,000, the sewer account is $1.5 million in the negative. The 10.4 per cent hike would mean an average increase of $97 on the annual bill for the services. The Allegany County Commissioners will make a final vote on the increase at their May 25th meeting.
