Governor Wes Moore traveled from the State House in Annapolis to the Maryland Air National Guard headquarters in Middle River to sign a half-dozen bills aimed at helping military veterans and active duty service members and their families. The bills include one that offers new health care coverage for Maryland National Guard members and one that expands tax cuts for retired veterans. In signing the bills Friday, Moore said the best way to convince veterans to keep calling Maryland home is to show them that they’re appreciated. Moore served as a U.S. Army captain and is the first veteran to serve as Maryland’s governor since World War Two veteran William Donald Schaefer ended his second term in 1995.
