National Treasure is the winner of the 148th Preakness Stakes. Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert’s colt outlasted Blazing Sevens in a thrilling stretch duel on a bittersweet day at Pimlico. Baffert’s Havnameltdown suffered a leg injury in an earlier race and was quickly euthanized on the track. Jockey Luis Saez was taken to a hospital. National Treasure’s win made Baffert the winningest Preakness trainer in history, breaking a tie with 19th century trainer R. Wyndham Walden.
