CANCER DRUG SHORTAGES

The shortage of a couple of generic cancer drugs is creating problems for hospitals.  The oncology department at WVU Medicine says the supply of carboplatin and cisplatin is hard to come by, and the shortages could continue for months. A recent National Comprehensive Cancer Network survey of cancer centers in the country indicate 93-percent said they had a shortage of carboplatin, and seven out of ten hospitals said cisplatin is in low supply on their pharmacy shelves.
