P.C.C.D. WOULD GET 40 PER CENT FUNDING INCREASE

For the second year in a row, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency is looking at a large funding boost and expanded role.  The nearly 40-percent increase is included in the new budget bill for Fiscal Year 2023-24 that’s awaiting final approval.  Nearly eight-million dollars would be used on a new criminal justice program overseen by the PCCD.  It’s the first time that funding would be set aside to pay for legal counsel for indigent defendants.
