Maryland is set to receive nearly 70-million dollars in regional federal emergency preparedness grants. The state’s Democratic congressional delegation announced the grants from the Department of Homeland Security, saying the funding is to help prepare against terrorist threats and natural disasters. Meanwhile, over 15-million dollars is being awarded to boost security at nonprofits and houses of worship in Maryland. The lawmakers announced more than 100 institutions across the state will receive 15-point-nine-million dollars under the Nonprofit Security Grant Program.
