MORE THAN $1 BILLION IN STATE BUDGET MONEY HELD UP

More than a billion dollars in new funding is being held up in the remainder of the Pennsylvania state budget that needs to be passed. Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro, the Republican-controlled Senate and Democratic-controlled House face a new round of negotiations to reach agreement on the Fiscal Code and other code bills to decide how that money is to be spent. The held-up money includes 100-million dollars for the Level Up Supplement for poorer schools, 50-million for hospital and health system emergency relief, 100-million in federal American Rescue Plan money for school mental health grants as well as 10-million for stipends for student teachers.
