A handful of bills before lawmakers in this week’s special session in West Virginia would make some big changes to the state’s Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation. One of the bills would provide for a pay increase for correction officers. The increases will be mostly spent during the first three years of employment, which is when the retention level is the lowest.
