ONE CASE OF LEGIONNAIRES’ DISEASE IDENTIFIED AT FCI

According to the Cumberland Times-News, one case of Legionnaires’ Disease was diagnosed at the Federal Correctional Institution, with FCI officials communicating with the local health department and the city of Cumberland Public Works Utilities Division to investigate the source of the disease. Legionnaires’ Disease is a serious type of pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria, with nearly 10,000 cases in the United States in 2018.
