MOORE: BRACE FOR “SEASON OF DISCIPLINE”

Governor Wes Moore spoke to city and county officials about the upcoming budget season, calling for a ‘season of discipline’ as the state faces a host of post-pandemic deficits. Moore’s address to the Maryland Association of Counties summer conference in Ocean City was largely one of caution — he pointed out the need for partnership between state and local governments as federal COVID money dries up. Maryland’s budgets, he said, have continued to grow while our economy is no bigger than it was four years ago.
