State officials say long-term SNAP benefits will now be an option for select college students. The benefits, which were formerly called food stamps, traditionally exclude college students but DHS Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh says that the benefits will be extended to students who meet specific criteria. They must be enrolled in a qualifying employment and training program, come from low-income households and attend a school operated by a state or local government.
