It’s been seven months since Josh Shapiro was elected governor and two Republican lawmakers say it’s not right that two of his picks for cabinet posts haven’t been confirmed yet. State Senators Kristin Phillips-Hill of York and Judy Ward of Blair say that allowing acting secretaries to perform their duties without Senate approval lets the governor and his appointees evade oversight. The lawmakers say they intend to introduce a constitutional amendment that would limit the powers of such secretaries in September.
