W.V. RANKS LAST IN TEACHER SALARY IN THE NATION

West Virginia ranks at the bottom when it comes to teacher pay. Teachers in the mountain state are the lowest paid in the nation. The West Virginia Education Association says the low pay is having a direct impact on teacher shortages across the state  —  there are about 17-hundred teacher vacancies this school year. Maryland, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia are the “highest-paid” teachers in our region.
