Maryland standardized test scores are up. The state Department of Education released the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program, or MCAP, scores from this past school year. They show proficiency in English rose to its highest level in nearly a decade, with the biggest single-year gain in grades three to eight. Officials say statewide results show “notable improvements” in literacy and math, with literacy results surpassing pre-pandemic levels. They say student proficiency rates in math show signs of recovery from pandemic learning losses.
