The Supreme Court of Maryland has approved a new rule related to the release of court audio recordings to the public and the media. The change comes after a federal appeals court ruled last year that Maryland’s prohibition on broadcasting legally obtained court recordings was unconstitutional. The Maryland Daily Record reports members of the public will be able to obtain copies of audio recordings and disseminate or broadcast them freely, after they are subject to redactions to protect sensitive information. The new rule will take effect in January.
