The Gold Star Family Memorial Monument in Huntington was dedicated yesterday. It marked the 131st such monument in the country, and it was dedicated on what would have been the 100th birthday of late Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams. Woody Williams is credited with starting the effort to erect the monuments to honor the families who were left behind when a soldier gave the ultimate sacrifice.
