REVIEW FINDS SEVERAL TAX CREDIT PROGRAMS EFFECTIVE, OTHERS FRIVOLOUS

A new report by the Independent Fiscal Office in Pennsylvania found that many current state tax credit programs were successful, while two stood out as being particularly ineffective. The report says a brewer’s tax credit appears to largely just be providing a “windfall” to the state’s large brewers who don’t really need it. And a tax credit intended to promote organ donation hasn’t been used and reportedly, most people don’t even know it’s available. Those conclusions are included in the report that summarizes the office’s findings in its review of the state’s tax credit programs over the last five years.
