SENATE G.O.P. LEADER STILL SEEKS NEW DATE FOR PRIMARY

Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman says he’s still trying to find a way to move the state’s primary on Republican terms.  The lawmaker from Indiana has notified Governor Josh Shapiro that Senate Republicans have no intention of moving a House-passed bill that would change the date of the 2024 spring primary to April 3rd. However, the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania has said there is no longer enough time for counties to handle the tasks associated with moving next year’s primary election from the current date, which is set by law as April 23rd.
