LEAD FOUND IN SOME CONEY DRINKING WATER

The Maryland Department of the Environment says that lead, found in drinking water in 6 of 21 samples taken in Lonaconing, was most likely from domestic pipes, rather than a public source. The test showed amounts above the action level, set by the Environmental Protection Agency. Rather than system-wide, the lead could have entered the water through a source, such as household plumbing or the water service line, according to the Cumberland Times-News.
