Demolition and utility work in conjunction with the downtown mall project is set to begin today. Liberty Street, between Frederick and Pershing Streets will be closed to thru traffic through 4 p.m. tomorrow. Beginning Monday, Liberty Street-in the same area-will be closed to thru traffic each week from Monday at 6 a.m. to Friday at 4 p.m. The street will reopen each Friday evening and close again on Monday mornings. Signage will be in place to detour passenger vehicles around the closure. Pedestrians will still be permitted on Liberty Street, but will be re-routed around the construction zone. An additional press release will be issued, when the weekly closure ends.
