JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION FIRES TWO INVOLVED IN CORRECTIONS CASE

Two people involved in the class action lawsuit over conditions at the Southern Regional Jail have been fired.   The former interim corrections commissioner Brad Douglas, and Phil Sword, the chief counsel for the homeland security agency are out.  The state has also handed over evidence that was said to have been lost or destroyed previously.  The suit claims the poor conditions included reports of inmates having to sleep on concrete or on mats that had been soaking in toilet water, black mold creating poor air quality, and inmates being denied running water or a toilet.
