U.S. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona visited Maryland Thursday to speak with Jewish college students about campus antisemitism. Students from Towson University, Goucher College, the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins say since the Israel-Hamas war began there have been incidents of hate speech, verbal threats and harassment. Cardona says he is appalled by what he has been hearing across the country and he assured the students that the Biden Administration has their back and will not allow that to happen. Students say some universities are not shutting down the antisemitism and they’re calling on the federal government to pressure those institutions to address the hateful protests. Towson University was the fifth and final campus stop on the administration’s Antisemitism Awareness Campaign.
