GOVERNOR SAYS HE’LL PUSH FOR RAISES

After the backlash from state workers who attended the PEIA public meetings this week, West Virginia Governor Justice said he will try to push for pay raises for those who will incur higher insurance rates.  The governor says he is absolutely going to do that, and he feels a five-percent hike should move to quick approval in the state legislature.  The state Democratic Party reminded the governor that in 2021 he said the rates for coverage through the Public Employees Insurance Agency would not go up on his watch.  This past year saw a 24-percent increase, and another ten percent is planned in 2024.
