Mineral County is now requiring its 11 volunteer fire departments to begin submitting annual financial audits. Companies that fail to do so, risk having their fire levy funding withheld. State audits of Mineral County fire departments are scheduled for early next year. The reviews will focus on revenues and expenditures. Each fire department receives about $60,000 annually.
